Worthy or Not? 3 Steps to the Proper Mindset

Do you feel worthy? Do you speak to yourself with kindness, with love and respect?

No?

Didn’t think so.

You’re very likely your own worst critic, which means you don’t feel worthy as a human being and probably tell yourself all day long that you’re not.  So it’s time to start turning that bad habit around in three steps!

Step One:  Just decide to!  Really and seriously make a commitment to having more compassion for yourself.  No one can do this for you…you must rustle up the gumption to do it for yourself, cowgirl!

Speak nicely to yourself and make a point out of finding ways to prove that you’re worthy instead of beating up on yourself…again.

Step Two:  Recognize that you’re one of us; we’re all in this together.  We all make mistakes.  We all don’t get things right the first time.  We’re all imperfect, in the race to try to be perfect when all we really should do is try to be whole. There’s a difference. Just stop criticizing yourself all the time; after all, we don’t live in Heaven or Nirvana, we live on Planet Earth.  Nothing and no one is supposed to be perfect here!  If perfection was the gold standard for being worthy, none of us would ever be worthy.  That can’t be right.

Just resolve, going forward, to be the best you can be.  That’s all you’re capable of doing anyhow!  Focus on your WHY and the S.M.A.A.R.T. goals that will take you there.

Step Three:  Pivot away from the negative to the positive to acknowledge yourself and your circumstances in the best light.

No one’s telling you to be delusional and ignore the negativity of life.  Come on. But you can acknowledge it and then pivot towards the positive end of the spectrum.  How?

Even if you’ve been involved in an epic fail somehow, you can acknowledge it and then simply resolve never to do X again, or never do X the same way again.  Find the lesson to be learned.  Discern what the gift is in the garbage, and then otherwise move on towards the light and out of the darkness.  Tell yourself that you’re a worthy human being who is learning lessons, making distinctions and growing, and that you’re doing the best you can with what you’ve got to work with.  As time goes on and you accrue more experience, you’d better believe that you’re going to learn more, succeed more…and hopefully feel more worthy than ever before.

Value yourself first and foremost.  Others will either get with the program and value you, too, or hit the cutting room floor.  But you need to speak to yourself with sweetness, instead of filling your cranium with poison.

Again, it all comes down to you making the right choice.  The power is in your hands.  More accurately, it’s in your mind.
