Learn What a Hunch Can Do For You!

Ever have a hunch?  Do you think lucky hunches are flashes of intuition…or indigestion?

Would you believe that lucky hunches have been proven, through scientific research, to function as a compass that can reliably guide you through life?

It has been proven that lucky people have made it a habit to trust their golden gut instincts while folks that have designated as “unlucky” never do.

So, is what you’re feeling from time to time “hunch” or “hooey”?  Here’s a few tips to help you use a hunch to your advantage:

First, remember that humans are mammals, mammals are animals…and all animals have instincts.  So don’t automatically dismiss any feelings out of hand that you experience.  The data that surrounds you from people, places and even things are real; on at least a subconscious level you’re processing this data.  So pause for a minute and really assess what it is you’re feeling.

Second, while intuition is great, don’t allow a hunch to be the ONLY thing you go on–it’s never a shortcut to use to avoid the effort required if more research is called for.  Don’t ignore hunches, but don’t treat them like they’re the absolute gospel either.  Never confuse a hunch with hope; check things out before you take a leap of faith.  There’s a difference between taking a risk and and taking a calculated risk.  Your hunch at least will give you a way to get the ball rolling…and it could be right…so be open, but also be educated before acting on it.  You could get very lucky if you do.

Third, explore the feelings that correspond with your hunch.  Why do you think you feel the way you do?  Even if at first you were to respond, “I have no idea,” that’s okay.  Follow up with this query: If you could have a clue about the hunch, what would it be?  Sometimes this second question works wonders, as simplistic as it seems.  See if it unlocks any doors.

Fourth, after honoring your instinct, balancing it with some additional data or support, and examining your feelings about it all, be willing to embrace lucky opportunities, using your hunch as an antennae that picks up all that’s going on around you…and IF the supporting data allows for it, seize that opportunity!  Do NOT overanalyze things or you’ll miss out on the matter your hunch was trying to put you wise to.  Your luck might just increase as you work to achieve your S.M.A.A.R.T. goals while in pursuit of your WHY.

Steve Jobs once said, “Intuition is a very powerful thing, more powerful than intellect.”  Now there’s someone who had intellect in spades, so he certainly had a basis of comparison.  Lucky people know that luck favors the prepared; so go with your gut in a way where you’re prepared to embrace whatever your intuition has revealed to you.  If you do nothing or perseverate when faced with a possibility you can’t win, but when you take a calculated risk, it’s really hard to lose.
