Beat Off Bad Luck Using Your Brain!

How to beat bad luck, you ask?

Well, the answer is a simple one…but yet, NOT so simple….

You see, there’s a fundamental difference between the way “lucky” people treat bad luck versus how “unlucky” people do it.

Lucky people believe that bad luck, ill fortune and tough circumstances is only a temporary state that can be overcome sooner or later.  Then they act accordingly.  Their brains are primed to find evidence that their beliefs are correct and…wouldn’t you know it?  They’re open to all of the opportunities that are often masked by their initial misfortune.  They don’t lock up and miss those opportunities and when they see them, they act on them with open minds.

Unlucky people, however, fixate and perseverate on their poor set of circumstances…and worse yet, they often believe that they are simply doomed to more bad luck in the future.  They’ve pre-framed their minds to search for negativity and that’s what their brain’s reticular activating system (or RAS) goes searching for.  So if they start off shut down, that’s how they tend to stay.

Either way, talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy!!!

To beat bad luck more efficiently, it comes down to simply being willing to stop marinating in the misery of your circumstances and to constantly be open-minded enough to find the ways, large and small…even one baby step at a time, if need be…to escape your ill fate and break through to the other side where you can find success.

Of course, it’s easy to say and hard to do for some whose bad habits of overthinking and analysis paralysis are so longstanding that the grains of it run deep in the wood of the souls of the afflicted.

Still, it doesn’t mean it can’t be done.  It’s worthwhile work to keep refocusing your brain so that it searches for the lesson in the loss, the gift in the garbage, the successful remix of the song that otherwise won’t work…but you must consistently and persistently work on refocusing and remaining open to the data that is most useful for you.  If this sort of thought process is difficult for you, keep in mind–good habits can be learned and over time ingrained just as much as bad habits.  If you want to achieve your S.M.A.A.R.T. goals so that you can live in harmony with your WHY, you need to train your brain so that you can

Bad luck and good luck comes to everyone.  But when bad luck comes, may your mindset be the kind that takes the raw materials of the bad luck you that you’ve experienced and use it to build a better tomorrow, one that saves you from even worse luck that may be lurking around the corner.
