Reality is Lovely

Reality bites?

If your reality’s sad, here’s a way to look at reinventing it: if you believe you can change it, you could…and you therefore you would and you WILL.  Just 1 shift in your beliefs can change your reality.

Is it really that simple?

Beliefs are what drive your brain to make the associations that it does; they’re opinions you hold about things.  If you believe you can do something, you’re right.  If you believe that you can’t do something, you end up being right, too.  So, stay tuned to learn how to reboot your brain with 1 shift in your beliefs so they best serve your WHY.

Keeping in mind that beliefs are really just opinions, you know that it’s pretty easy for you to change your mind, right?  How many times have you championed a particular opinion just to find out you were wrong?  Honestly, folks used to believe that the world was flat, but we all know that it’s round by now, don’t we?  Talk about a shift in one’s reality–that’s a seismic shift!  And these happen more than you might think.

Beliefs boil down to faith, trust and confidence in something that may not even be susceptible to proof.  No matter how intangible beliefs may be, they’re the building blocks upon which we build our own realities.

Your beliefs are defined by your personal values.  What you value drives what you believe to be true for both yourself and reality itself.  Ultimately, what you believe will, directly and/or indirectly, affect what you think, say and do.

That’s why it’s so important to establish what your WHY is first and then set S.M.A.A.R.T. goals in order to live in harmony with your WHY.  If your beliefs don’t serve your highest and best good (your WHY), you’ve wasted your time.

How to turn your beliefs into rocket fuel to boost you towards achieving goals in harmony with your reality?  Use your WHY as the 30,000 foot view of what you want, with your goals serving as the steps you need to travel up in order to get you there.  Then actively work on making a shift in your beliefs about what it’s going to take to get there and your odds of success every step of the way.  If you keep telling yourself that you can’t achieve your goals then you won’t. If you’re busy shooting things down because you think they’re stupid, difficult, etc., you’re taking your focus away from what could work, what is smart and what will serve your ultimate purpose.

More specifically, to change your reality you must believe that reaching your goals and overall WHY isn’t just possible—it’s probable. What’s the difference?

“Possible” is a wishy-washy word.  “Probable” is legit—as in, concretely, if you do X, you will achieve Y, using your goals as your blueprint to get from here (where you don’t want to be) to there (living out your ultimate WHY).

Just 1 shift in your belief as to the outcome of your goals, from (im)possible to probable will change your reality.   The question is, are you willing to leave your comfort zone to rearrange the DNA of that reality?
